Treatment of hemorrhoids with folk remedies: effective recipes for suppositories, baths and ointments

70% of adults over 41 years of age have signs of hemorrhoids (varicose veins of the anals). Since the disease itself is delicate, many people prefer not to contact a specialized specialist (proctologist), but to solve the problem using traditional methods.

This formulation of the question is fundamentally unreasonable, since the doctor prescribes appropriate therapy based on the stage and severity of the pathology, as well as the individual characteristics of the patient’s body. However, any doctor will approve such methods at the initial stage in addition to the main treatment. Hemorrhoids and their treatment with folk remedies, as well as the most effective recipes will be given in this material.

Causes and symptoms

Literally, the name of the disease “hemorrhoids” from the Greek language is defined as bleeding, which is one of the manifestations of this pathology, characteristic of the anorectal veins.

Hemorrhoids denote a process corresponding to venous insufficiency (insufficient tone of the veins) caused by stagnation of arterial blood in the caverns (vascular collections of the rectum). This leads to the overflow of cavernous formations with blood, their further expansion and the appearance of hemorrhoidal cones.

Important! With slight physical activity (even coughing and sneezing), hemorrhoidal cones tend to fall out, but in the initial stages of hemorrhoid development they can be easily pushed back. Lack of timely treatment leads to fixation of these nodes from the outside.

Haemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids can occur due to the following provoking factors:

  • hereditary predisposition,
  • sedentary lifestyle,
  • predisposition to difficulties during bowel movements due to improper bowel function,
  • frequent and excessive consumption of salty, spicy and fatty foods, as well as spices,
  • physical strain (lifting heavy objects),
  • obesity,
  • pregnancy,
  • childbirth,
  • frequent stressful situations.

Hemorrhoids - a disease of a sedentary lifestyle

Important! Hemorrhoids tend to develop in several stages. In this case, the earliest one does not manifest itself in any way, then slight discomfort begins in the rectal area.

Only in later stages of development of hemorrhoids is the appearance of:

  • itching sensations in the rectal canal,
  • pain in the rectum, especially during bowel movements,
  • bleeding during bowel movements,
  • sensations of discomfort similar to some object in the rectal canal,
  • prolapse of hemorrhoidal cones, which is accompanied by severe pain.

Ignoring the above symptom complex leads to the further development of hemorrhoids, which is manifested by greatly enlarged and swollen hemorrhoids that protrude outward and are easily palpable, as well as mucus constantly oozing from the anus. These symptoms indicate that the disease has become chronic, which is extremely difficult to get rid of.

Staging of hemorrhoids

Signs of hemorrhoids

Signs of hemorrhoids largely depend on the location of the affected veins.

  • Internal hemorrhoids. Dilated veins are located in the wall of the rectum above the so-called dentate line, which separates the intestinal mucosa from the anal canal. This form of pathology is often asymptomatic, but straining during bowel movements and constipation can lead to bleeding. When stressed, hemorrhoids can fall out of the anus and become pinched, which is accompanied by the development of inflammation and pain.
  • External hemorrhoids. Dilated vessels are located in the subcutaneous tissue around the anus. When irritated, this form causes itching and bleeding.
  • Thrombosis of the hemorrhoid. The formation of a blood clot in the venous plexus causes severe pain, swelling, inflammation, and the formation of a dense lump near the anus.

Symptoms of hemorrhoids in women usually first appear at the end of pregnancy or after childbirth, in men - after intense physical activity:

  • painless discharge of a small amount of bright red blood on the surface of the stool;
  • itching and irritation in the anal area;
  • pain and discomfort in the anus;
  • swelling of the tissue around the anus;
  • the appearance of “bumps” - prolapsed venous nodes that can thrombose and become inflamed.

Treatment methods for hemorrhoids

Treatment for hemorrhoids should begin immediately when the first signs appear. Therapeutic methods vary greatly and depend on the stage of development of hemorrhoids. Traditional medicine offers the following regimens:

  • for thrombosis of the veins of the rectal canal, a protein-vegetable diet (with a lot of fiber) is recommended, excluding alcohol, spicy and fried foods, as well as spices,
  • for concomitant diseases (nonspecific colitis, irritable bowel syndrome), microenemas are additionally prescribed, and for sedentary work, moderate sports (excluding cycling with weightlifting),
  • during exacerbations of hemorrhoids, it is recommended to take a cool shower several times a day, as well as rinse the anus, rectal canal and perineum after each bowel movement.

Drug therapy involves taking bioflavonoids - hesperidin and diosmin. The use of local anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs is also relevant. These include ointments and suppositories containing hydrocortisone with a suspension of Escherichia coli culture.

More advanced stages of hemorrhoid development require surgical intervention before an extensive inflammatory process begins on the hemorrhoidal cones and tissues. This procedure is carried out under local anesthesia; it involves removing the thrombotic mass (nodule) with a hematoma, and sometimes the entire damaged section of the vein. Surgical intervention is important not only for enlarged and swollen several (one) nodes, but also for severe pain.

You can cure hemorrhoidal cones in the initial stages of hemorrhoid development with folk recipes that perfectly complement drug therapy. And in combination with diet and special physical exercises, the result will be significantly accelerated.

Making suppositories for the treatment of hemorrhoids

Such a good and effective medicine as suppositories prepared according to folk recipes will help you get rid of hemorrhoids. They are intended to stop bleeding, relieve pain, relieve swelling and inflammation of hemorrhoids and the adjacent mucosa.

The most common and effective recipes for the treatment of hemorrhoidal cones look like this:

  • A 5-centimeter cone should be cut from raw vegetables (beets, potatoes or carrots), which must be lubricated with sea buckthorn oil before insertion into the rectum,
  • Aloe is used to make effective anti-inflammatory suppositories. To do this, you need to take the longest and well-washed leaf, cut out a 5-centimeter section from it, turn it inside out and use it for its intended purpose in the rectal canal,
  • Mumiyo candles are also very popular. To make them, mummy, milk, starch and softened butter are mixed directly. A suppository is molded from the resulting substance, frozen until hard and inserted into the rectal canal.

  • Shilajit as a cure for hemorrhoids
    Suppositories should be in the rectum throughout the night.

General principles of hemorrhoid therapy

The process of formation of hemorrhoids is based on a complex physiological mechanism. The key factor in the development of hemorrhoids is the process of disruption of venous outflow from vascular formations located in the rectal area. In order for the treatment of hemorrhoids to be effective, it must be comprehensive. The general principles of treatment for this disease are as follows:

  1. Revision of the diet in favor of natural fortified foods containing plant fibers.
  2. Daily moderate physical activity.
  3. The use of medicinal drugs for external use and oral administration.
  4. Refusal to lift weights.

Recipes for ointments for the treatment of hemorrhoids

You can cure hemorrhoidal cones with the help of medicinal ointments prepared according to folk recipes:

  • An ointment made from cinnamon and honey, which are taken in equal parts, mixed and spread on the causative area, can relieve pain and reduce inflammation.
  • A simple recipe of 10 g of propolis mixed with vegetable oil gives a good result. The mixture is then melted until dissolved using a water bath, cooled and used. This ointment should be stored in the refrigerator,
  • A remedy made from 5 g of calendula tincture mixed with 10 g of petroleum jelly is also effective. This ointment should be absorbed into a gauze swab and placed in the rectal canal from evening to morning.
  • The above recipes are intended for the treatment of external hemorrhoids with rectal cavernous formations. You should know that ointments do not need to be rubbed into hemorrhoidal cones and the area around them. Before such treatment, it is necessary to carry out hygiene procedures.

    Causes of hemorrhoids

    The risk of the disease increases with age as the tissues supporting the venous plexuses weaken and stretch over time.

    The most common causes of hemorrhoids:

    • severe straining during bowel movements, chronic diarrhea or constipation;
    • prolonged sitting on the toilet;
    • obesity;
    • pregnancy;
    • anal intercourse;
    • low fiber content in food.

    Treatment of hemorrhoids at home is primarily aimed at correcting (if possible) these factors.

    Enemas as a cure for hemorrhoids

    To get rid of internal hemorrhoids using traditional methods, microenemas are used. With their help, the medicine (liquid or oily concentration) is quickly introduced into the rectal canal, which helps accelerate the therapeutic effect.

    The most popular recipes for healing solutions look like this:

    • An infusion of wormwood is prepared by pouring a tablespoon of dried medicinal herb into 100 g of boiling water. Next, the cooled broth is administered by douching into the rectal canal,
    • Sea buckthorn oil is very effective when administered into the rectum by enema. It not only reduces the manifestations of hemorrhoids, but also prevents the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria in the rectal canal,
    • Potato juice not only relieves the symptoms of hemorrhoids, but also envelops the rectal canal from the inside, preventing damage to hemorrhoidal cones by feces.

    Important! To treat hemorrhoids using microenemas, only 50 ml of medicinal solutions are used.

    Remedies for internal use for hemorrhoids

    When treating hemorrhoidal cones, the use of oral folk remedies (decoctions, infusions, juices) gives good results. According to pharmacodynamics, antihemorrhoidal drugs are divided into analgesics, anti-inflammatory and hemostatic drugs.

    The following folk recipes will help relieve pain when treating hemorrhoids:

    • Chopped carrot tops (30g) are poured into 1 liter of boiling water, infused for half an hour, divided into 3 times and taken orally. The infusion must be prepared daily for 2 weeks.
    • Mix equal amounts of dry: calendula, mint, yarrow, sage, chamomile and poplar buds. Two tablespoons of medicinal herbs are poured into 0.5 liters of boiling water and left overnight, then filtered and 0.75 ml taken orally before meals.

    The following folk remedies can stop bleeding from hemorrhoidal cones:

    • Horse chestnut (50g) is crushed and poured with 0.5 liters of vodka. Next, the medicine should be left in a dark place for 14 days, after which it should be drunk diluted before breakfast (1 tablespoon of infusion per 80 ml of boiled water),
    • Rose hips (60 g) are crushed and poured into 0.6 liters of boiling water, then left overnight in an airtight container. The resulting infusion is filtered and drunk 3 times. It is allowed to add honey to taste to improve the effect.

    When treating hemorrhoidal cones, the above remedies must be drunk until the negative symptom complex disappears. Hemostatic drinks additionally strengthen vascular walls, prevent capillary fragility and reduce their permeability.

    But before using any oral infusions and juices for the treatment of hemorrhoids, you should consult your doctor, as they have a number of side effects and contraindications.

    Therapeutic baths as a cure for hemorrhoids

    A good result in the treatment of hemorrhoids can be achieved using folk recipes for sitz baths, which is most important for the external form of varicose veins of the rectal veins.

    There are three methods of baths for the treatment of hemorrhoidal cones:

  • Cold, the use of which is important for pain relief and stopping bleeding of hemorrhoidal cones. For the procedure, the basin is filled with cold water, to which a decoction of medicinal herbs and plants is added (one or more: wormwood, calendula, chamomile, St. John's wort, oak bark, onion peel, bay leaf, celandine, string or sea salt). Next, you need to immerse the rectal canal in the container for five minutes,
  • Warm baths, which differ in preparation from cold baths only in the temperature of the water. In this case, the procedure must be carried out until the liquid cools (about a quarter of an hour),
  • Steam, which are dangerous to use and difficult to perform, but very effective in treating hemorrhoids. For these procedures, the container needs a lid with a hole. Boiling water with an infusion of medicinal plants is poured into a basin. Next, the patient sits over the hole in the lid for a short time (up to five minutes) so that steam enters the rectum.

  • Sitz baths as a cure for hemorrhoids

    Important! The use of sitz baths in the treatment of hemorrhoids is recommended until the symptoms of the disease cease. After such procedures, the rectal canal should be treated with sea buckthorn oil or ointment.

    What to do in case of exacerbation of the disease?

    Severe pain and bleeding that accompany exacerbation of hemorrhoids are best treated under the supervision of a doctor. To do this, you need to visit a proctologist, take a sick leave and devote all your time to solving the problem.

    Special candles and baths prepared according to a folk recipe will help remove increased symptoms. But it is possible that medications prescribed by a proctologist and purchased from pharmacy chains will work faster. It must be remembered that an advanced disease can be cured by traditional medicine, while a home first aid kit can stop the development of hemorrhoids, weaken its manifestations and prevent its occurrence in the future.

    Causes

    The immediate cause of the appearance of external hemorrhoids is overstrain of the walls of the hemorrhoidal veins, caused by high physical activity (most often weight lifting) and, accordingly, excess blood flow. Sometimes external hemorrhoids are provoked by pushing during constipation or severe diarrhea.

    As a rule, protrusion of the node occurs with significant thinning of the blood vessels, which can be caused by the following factors:

  • low physical activity;
  • venous-vascular diseases;
  • oncological formations;
  • chronic constipation;
  • pregnancy and childbirth;
  • chronic alcoholism and tobacco smoking;
  • obesity.
  • Prevention of the appearance and development of hemorrhoids

    To prevent the re-formation of hemorrhoids that were previously treated, as well as to prevent them from appearing for the first time, you need to follow simple recommendations:

    • exclude spicy, salty and excessively fatty foods from your diet,
    • give preference to vegetables containing a large amount of fiber,
    • wash the anus and rectal canal with cold water after each bowel movement,
    • during defecation, do not sit on the toilet for a long time and do not strain,
    • sit less and move more (especially walking),
    • refrain from lifting heavy objects to prevent hemorrhoids from falling out,
    • if possible, sleep on a hard surface with a small cushion under your head,
    • avoid hypothermia and colds,
    • do not provoke constipation,
    • regularly take an enema with infusions of chamomile and calendula.

    Taking baths that contain infusions of medicinal herbs and plants also prevents the development of hemorrhoids.

    Inexpensive folk recipes will help cure hemorrhoidal disease in the early stages. Before using a home first aid kit, you should always consult your doctor.

    The use of minerals in compresses for hemorrhoids

    1. Salt compress - used for inflammatory processes of prolapsed hemorrhoids. Gauze folded in several layers is soaked in a hypertonic saline solution and applied to the hemorrhoids for several hours.
    2. Alum (a teaspoon) is diluted with a glass of heated water. The compress lasts from 40 minutes to an hour. Using alum for compresses against hemorrhoids helps relieve pain and unpleasant itching in the anal area.
    3. Clay compresses . The clay is diluted with water to the state of liquid sour cream. The resulting solution is applied in an even layer over the tissue and applied to the hemorrhoids. The compress lasts up to 2 hours.

    Applying compresses for hemorrhoids is prohibited if you have allergies or individual intolerance to the ingredients from which the lotion is prepared. Before using the compress, you should consult your doctor. Self-medication can cause complications.
