Simethicone is a chemically inert substance with surface activity and antifoaming effect. In the intestinal lumen it acts as an antifoam: it reduces the tension of gas bubbles. The released gases are absorbed by the intestinal walls, and some are excreted naturally due to intestinal peristalsis.
Simethicone acts on the surface of gas bubbles without affecting the mucous membrane and without being absorbed. By removing bubbles, digestion and absorption of nutrients are normalized. Use before ultrasound and x-ray examinations prevents the occurrence of artifacts that cause gas bubbles. Does not contain sugar, so it can be used for diabetes .

Use of the drug Espumisan L
For flatulence : infants are prescribed 1 ml (25 drops) of Espumisan L, adding the drug to a bottle of baby food at each feeding, or give it with a small spoon before or after breastfeeding; children aged 1–6 years are prescribed 1 ml of the drug (25 drops) 3–5 times a day; children aged 6–14 years – 1–2 ml (25–50 drops) 3–5 times a day; Children over 14 years of age and adults are prescribed 2 ml (50 drops) 3–5 times a day. The drug is taken during or after meals, and, if necessary, before bedtime. Before use, the contents of the bottle should be shaken well. To dispense drops, the bottle is held vertically with the opening downwards. The duration of treatment depends on the presence of complaints and is determined by the doctor individually. If necessary, the drug can be taken for a long time. To prepare for diagnostic examinations of the abdominal organs, Espumisan L is prescribed to adults 2 ml (50 drops) 3 times a day the day before the examination and 2 ml in the morning before the examination. When performing double contrast radiography, add 4–8 ml (100–200 drops) of Espumisan L emulsion per 1 liter of contrast mixture. As an antidote for poisoning with surfactants, Espumisan L is prescribed for children 2.5-10 ml (65 drops or 1/3 of the contents of the bottle), and for adults - 10-20 ml of the drug (1/3-2/3 from the bottle). depending on the severity of poisoning.

How to take Espumisan? To eliminate flatulence, adults and children over 6 years old - 2 capsules 3-5 times a day after meals with a small amount of liquid.
